MASTER IN FASHION SUSTAINABILITY & CIRCULAR ECONOMY MANAGEMENT

The Master in Fashion, Sustainability & Circular Economy Management - MIFAS trains future managers with a deep expertise in sustainability hybrid managerial figures who combine talent, creativity, and inventiveness to make a real impact on the fashion industry's most pressing challenge, leading the transition towards more conscious, responsible, and innovative business models.

MEET MIFAS

MIFAS provides exclusive skills and know-how in high demand by major fashion and luxury brands, empowering students to offer innovative managerial solutions that make even the most complex products and services sustainable,
circular, and future-proof. From supply chain transparency to circular economy models, from responsible sourcing to green
communication strategies, graduates will be equipped to lead sustainability transformation at every level of a fashion organisation.

The fashion industry, particularly luxury Made in Italy, is undergoing a profound shift — one where environmental responsibility, social impact, and cultural integrity are becoming as central to brand identity as creativity and craftsmanship. This Master's programme has been co-designed with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana to meet the specific needs of leading brands, ensuring a curriculum that reflects the real challenges and opportunities shaping the future of sustainable fashion today.

 

Students will learn to:

  • Lead the creation and management of sustainable products and production systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with Design, Production, Marketing, and CSR teams.
  • Understand the fashion and luxury value chain, sustainable production processes, and their key procedures.
  • Think and design sustainable communication and marketing strategies.
  • Confidently apply sustainability criteria in analysis and design.
  • Understand the limits and opportunities of sustainability specific to the fashion and luxury sectors.
  • Develop sustainable systems and solutions to the challenges of sustainable production.
     


AFTER MIFAS

Career paths include:

  • Sustainability Manager: leads and coordinates sustainability strategies across the brand, ensuring alignment between
    business goals and environmental responsibility.
  • Circular Economy Manager: develops and implements circular business models, from product design to end-of-life
    solutions and material recovery.
  • CSR Manager: manages corporate social responsibility initiatives, reporting, and stakeholder engagement across the
    organisation.
  • Sustainable Product Developer: oversees the development of products and production systems with a focus on
    environmental impact and lifecycle analysis.
  • Sustainable Communication & Marketing Manager: designs and implements communication strategies that authentically
    convey the brand's sustainability values and commitments.
  • Supply Chain Sustainability Manager: monitors and optimises the value chain, ensuring sustainable sourcing, production,
    and distribution practices.

Certificate: 1st level University Master accredited through Università della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli as formal academic qualifications in accordance with the standards set by the Italian Ministry of Education. 60 CFU/ ECTS

Duration of the Master: 1 year, 1500 hours

FULVIO BENETTI, Group Sustainability Director, Ermenegildo Zegna Group

Fulvio Benetti is currently the Sustainability Director at the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, a global luxury Group with a leading position in the high-end menswear business, renowned for its century-old legacy of excellence and its continuous commitment to quality and sustainability. In his role, Fulvio Benetti oversees the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the Group's ESG strategy, focusing on reducing the environmental and social impact of the company’s activities, from productions to distribution and beyond. His tasks include coordinating the responsible sourcing of raw materials, remaining up do date on the latest global innovations in energy and material transitions, and fostering partnerships that align with the Zegna Group’s sustainability goals.

Fulvio Benetti plays a key role in advancing Ermenegildo Zegna Group’s ambitious ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) targets, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 as verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). He also supports initiatives like the Fashion Pact-led Collective Virtual Power Purchase Agreement to promote renewable energy adoption, Fashion Pact-led Unlock program to develop and deploy the first global emissions in-setting methodology for cotton, and the Re.Crea Consortium for managing products end-of-life.

Under his leadership, the Group has fully integrated sustainability into its operations, from traceable raw materials to water footprint assessments. Beyond environmental goals, Fulvio Benetti contributes to the firm social initiatives, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) programs, employee training, and to the Group ESG governance’s progressing. His work reflects the company’s long-standing values of accountability, community engagement, and innovation since its founding back in 1910.
